Community support

Sellafield Ltd is constantly striving for the highest possible standards in all areas of our corporate responsibility.

Along with other partners in the nuclear industry including the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, our parent body organisation Nuclear Management Partners and the Low Level Waste Repository, we are supporting the economic regeneration of West Cumbria.

We’re doing this through active involvement in the Energy Coast Masterplan™, a £2 billion package of regeneration projects aimed at establishing West Cumbria as a centre of excellence for nuclear and other energy technologies including wind power, tidal, oil and gas. It is also our joint intention to make sure that charitable funding continues to achieve the greatest possible impact through the ‘Communities that Work’ strategy.

To meet this aim, the nuclear partners channel most of their funding through Britain’s Energy Coast West Cumbria and Cumbria Community Foundation, so that our resources are used in a co-ordinated way and go towards projects identified as priorities for the area.

A list of organisations via which funding is distributed are available here.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list and prospective applicants should refer to the Cumbria Council for Voluntary Services or contact them directly to identify further funding opportunities.

These changes will give Sellafield Ltd a more coherent approach, helping us to be a better neighbour to our communities.

Sellafield Ltd will continue to provide small donations to local charities. To apply for funding at either of our three sites please complete the following application.
