Adelard is an independent specialist consultancy founded in 1987. Its mission is to provide an exceptional standard of consultancy, backed by an internationally recognised research programme. We work primarily in the area of computer-based safety-critical and safety related-systems with some important exceptions in our work on security, corporate memory and software reliability. We have a reputation for solving difficult problems.
We have extensive experience of the nuclear industry C&I and we are carrying out a number of assessments of smart sensors and platforms for the industry. We have international experience of nuclear C&I having worked with clients in France, Sweden, Germany and Finland. We have detailed knowledge of C&I standards, SAPs and licensing approaches. We are experienced with the Emphasis approach and are supporting British Energy in developing their corporate guidance and associated training.We are also expert in the UK policy and regulatory background: Robin Bloomfield was a member of the UK Nusac.
We can develop safety cases for both legacy equipment and new procurements, and also provide safety engineering support, including carrying out hazard analysis and risk assessment. Our experience of developing safety cases ranges from air traffic control systems to armoured vehicles. We also provide support to clients in developing their own safety cases. We have developed and supply a tool environment for industrial scale safety cases - ASCE - that is the preferred tool within MoD.
