The Technical Directorate External Innovation team are focused upon acceleration and cost reduction of decommissioning tasks across the Sellafield site and NDA estate, through the development of new technology, technology transfer and innovation.
As a result External Innovation is committed to the delivery of the LTP through:-
Encouragement of contractors and academia to be innovative in order to deliver their mission more effectively including improvements in technology, strategy, safety, security and environmental performance.
It has long been acknowledged that nuclear decommissioning has strong technology links and synergies to those of oil and gas and the methods used in decommissioning their legacy plants.
The aim of this exhibition is to explore those possible technology synergies through collaborative partnerships with Nuclear, Oil and Gas along with academic organisations.

Additional information: Please note that the 'Sellafield Limited Design Services Alliance Industry Day' has now been re-scheduled. The reason for this is because of the severe weather warning issued, making it unsafe for participants to travel to the event.

CANCELLED - Lecture: The Large Hadron Collider by Dr Peter Edwards, University of Durham

It is hoped to reschedule in September 2011 - notification will be added to this events calendar in due course.

On Tuesday 14th December the Nuclear Institute Cumbria Branch will be supporting the Materials Society of Cumbria lecture on “The Large Hadron Collider” which is being given by Dr Peter Edwards of the University of Durham. The lecture will start at 19:30 and is being held at the Samuel Lindow Building at Westlakes.

As you’re probably aware the Large Hadron Collider is currently at the cutting edge of research into to some of the fundamental principles of the universe itself. As such this promises to be a fascinating lecture about the work that has gone on so far and the plans for the future.

As space at the event is likely to be limited, and in case the weather causes difficulties for the speaker for travelling please can anyone planning to attend the event to register in advance with the Materials Society of Cumbria (john.x.hill@sellafieldsites.com).
