Fancy that! Dolled-up staff raise £982
THE Iron Mountain team from Sellafield Ltd’s Records Management at Risley hit the halls of Hinton House donned in fancy dress with buckets in hand to raise a grand total of £982 for Children in Need in November.
Diane Evans, Iron Mountain supervisor, said: “I would just like to thank all the team who did the collecting and also those who came in fancy dress, it was brilliant to see what contribution they made to the day. Thanks also to Jim Sullivan, our manager, for letting everyone take part.”
Another event that took place to raise money for Children in Need was a 5K fun run around Birchwood Forest Park which raised a further £515 for the charity. Sellafield Ltd and Nexia Solutions both entered teams in the run, coming second and third respectively out of the seven competing teams.
Many other volunteers from across the Company also supported the event in various ways from marshalling to handing out free energy bars to the runners taking part.
Organiser Julian Spencer from Nexia Solutions said: “It was great to see so many people from other local companies taking part, but more importantly I managed to run quickly enough to beat the guy in the Scooby Doo outfit who was collecting cash along the way”.
Staff at the Sellafield Visitors Centre meanwhile welcomed Pudsey Bear and escorted him around the site encouraging employees to empty their pockets for the good cause. The sale of cakes, jams and Pudsey Bear biscuits at the Centre also contributed to the final total raised of £1900.
