Capenhurst winter quiz

Capenhurst’s lead team, The Lounge Room Lizards, sensationally took the quiz crown at the second quiz in 2007, with the event raising £805 for charity.

The competition for glory was fierce, with a spirited challenge from Risley ringers Four Decades of Communication. However, The Lounge Room Lizards boosted solid performances in the early rounds with the nifty use of their double points joker in the closing stages, sweeping them to a shock victory by five points.

The top of the leader board was extremely tightly packed, with half the teams finishing within 10 points of each other, demonstrating the high calibre of the competing teams.

At the bottom of the leader board with a rather meek performance was Gone But Not Forgotten, while the team with the best named was judged to be The Team With No Name, perhaps the greatest irony of the evening.

This year’s event was held again at the Whitby Sports and Social Club, with £402.50 raised on the night, which was matched by the company and donated to the Handicap Children Pilgrims Trust and The Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

A big contributor to the charity fund on the night was the raffle. Garry Hibbert, B271 Sef Rig, won £200 worth of MacDonald\'s Hotel vouchers; Jacquie Edmunds, B101 Human Resources, took home a £100 TicketMaster gift card; while Linda Huxley, B813 IDP received the third prize of £50 Marks & Spencer vouchers.
