Sellafield site activities diagramThe Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s Strategy, has at its heart the priority of reducing risk and hazard and to deliver the clean-up mission cost-effectively.
Spent Fuel Management at Sellafield includes the reprocessing of spent Magnox nuclear fuel from stations across the UK and also the reprocessing of spent oxide fuel from overseas customers.
Decommissioning covers facilities across Sellafield where decommissioning is currently being carried out. It excludes the decommissioning of all future facilities, current operational facilities and facilities which are subject to retrieval operations.
The integrated nuclear waste management programme seeks to reduce waste volumes arising as part of current activities as well as historic operations and ensuring waste is stored safely.
The infrastructure mission is the continuity and effectiveness of services provided to the other programmes on the Sellafield site.
To deliver the clean-up of the Sellafield site to the agreed end-state as agreed in the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) Strategy.
