Civil/Structural Engineers – Design for Nuclear Decommissioning, associated new-build, and Civil Infrastructure £26- 52k
Thinking beyond the rigid confines of repetitive design you will provide innovative solutions to the exacting demand of civil engineering within the nuclear industry. You will use the latest CAE tools in the challenging fields of decommissioning and for the provision of associated new build facilities, and in the essential field of civil infrastructure. Your role will involve:
- providing key design authority support to assure the safety and quality of design solutions
- leading design teams in decommissioning, associated new build and
infrastructure development - working closely with external consultants, and supervising and delivering core design activities utilizing internal staff
- interfacing with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, regulators, other professional engineering personnel, nuclear operators and the external supply chain.
- Addressing issues beyond normal UK engineering practices by employing innovative new technologies and solutions to unique challenges in a stringently regulated environment across a broad spectrum of civil and structural engineering skill areas such as; earthquake engineering, impact loading, the consideration of extreme environmental hazards, the design of containment structures for nuclear materials, the design of infrastructure provisions such as water supply and drainage within a nuclear environment, assessing and extending the life of aging structures, and establishing and implementing decommissioning and demolition strategies.
The following attributes are sought:
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or approaching chartered status. Also keen to recruit recent graduate.
- Ideally with civil / structural background gained in nuclear, chemical, or heavy industrial environment.
- Ideally with de-commissioning / demolition, or civil infrastructure experience.
- Innovative and lateral thinker

Building and Civil Maintenance Engineers
£26 – 42k
Building and civil maintenance engineers are an integral part of teams involved in the full life cycle of asset care. Working within the operating teams you will provide the organizational and technical skills to maintain a well managed building and civil engineering asset. You will:
- oversee a maintenance and inspection program
- arrange for the implementation of maintenance and remedial works
- Inspect and accept remediation works
- work with site wide teams to develop improvement plans.
The following attributes are sought:
- minimum of HNC in a relevant subject
- Ideally member or associate of relevant professional body or progressing towards membership.
- Ideally with civil / building background in nuclear, chemical, or heavy industrial environment.
- Relevant experience including inspection and maintenance of building and civil engineering assets.
- Team worker.
