Company structure
Sellafield Ltd has a proud heritage which includes the development of the world's first commercial nuclear power station. It has emerged from the re-organisation of the country's nuclear assets and liabilities as the company responsible for the safe delivery of multi-million pound contracts on behalf of site owners, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
There are two business elements of our company and what we do on behalf of the NDA: Sellafield operations and Capenhurst operations.
Sellafield Ltd also has a major engineering design capability base at Risley Warrington, Cheshire. Almost 2000 people are employed on this science park campus.
The majority of these are employed on engineering related activities for the company's Sellafield Operations. Other support function activities incude Legal, Human Resources, Communications and Finance.
Sellafield Operations:
- Remediation, decommissioning & clean-up of historic legacy plant
- Reprocessing, MOX manufacture and waste management
Capenhurst Operations
- Decommissioning & dismantling historic enrichment plant
