Sellafield Ltd helps keep the Vulcan in the Sky
A £250 donation has recently been handed over to the Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTTS), as a result of no Lost Time Accidents in the Pile Fuel Storage Pond complex during the month of August.
Paul Dixon, Pile Fuel Storage Pond safety advisor, presented a cheque to the Trust during a Vulcan to the Sky members’ day at the Robin Hood/Doncaster Airport (formally RAF Finningley).
Paul nominated Vulcan to the Sky trust to be the recipient of the donation after watching the Vulcan display at Whitehaven festival in 2009 and this year at Windermere air show, after seeing the smiles on childrens’ and parents’ faces.
Paul said: “I’ve been a fan of the Vulcan since a small child and member of VTTS for two years, the VTTS club has approximately 8,000 members worldwide and members attended the day from as far away as Singapore and America.
“The Vulcan XH558 is the only Vulcan flying anywhere in the world and is only flying because of donations from industry and the general public.
“The trust is involved in a number of educational ventures in schools throughout the UK providing Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 learning packs, Our mission is to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, designers and aviators.”
