Sellafield Ltd celebrates the 'Best of the Best' at Excellence awards
Sellafield Ltd celebrated the best of the best at the company’s recent annual Business Excellence Awards.
Held at Energus, near Workington, the facility provided the perfect backdrop to the event, which now in its 4th year, celebrates excellence across Sellafield Ltd (SL).
George Beveridge, Nuclear Management Partners (NMP) Deputy Managing Director at Sellafield Ltd, welcomed over 160 attendees to the awards presentation event.
They included those individuals and teams nominated for one of the 27 awards presented on the night, several members of the Sellafield Ltd executive team and a number of VIP guests, including Dr Ian Hudson from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and representatives from AMEC
Mr Beveridge said: “The SL Executive team and representatives from our customer and our parent companies found it particularly difficult to choose the category winners this year. The enthusiasm, creative thinking and willingness of our employees to drive through problems and underpin Sellafield Ltd’s objectives as a business were evident to all of us on the judging panel.
“Sellafield Ltd has a huge amount of potential and we owe it to ourselves, as well as the rest of the nuclear and local communities, to continue to raise our game and deliver on our commitments to our stakeholders.
“The talent on display at the presentation evening was proof of the professionalism and dedication of Sellafield Ltd’s workforce and demonstrates our ability to deliver on this commitment.”
Dr Ian Hudson, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s Head of Programme for Sellafield, added: “I was particularly pleased to be invited to the awards presentation. I can see lots of enthusiasm from numerous people throughout the organisation engaged in improvements. That’s something we can all be proud of.
“There’s a real strong sense of pride and community that exists on the site, and these awards are a good reflection on a well trained and committed workforce.”
In addition to the awards for business excellence, a number of other awards were made to celebrate the hard work and dedication of some of Sellafield Ltd’s best and brightest rising stars, including the graduate and trainee of the year awards.
