Green approach to energy reaps savings

In the last 6 months, Sellafield Ltd’s warehouse and logistics team, in conjunction with facilities management have saved £100K on their gas bill and £10K on their electricity bill, as part of the utilities reduction exercise at Lillyhall’s Receipt and Distribution centre.

The only investment required to realise these savings has been a little time and effort to gain a better understanding of current systems and processes.

A better understanding of water usage at Lillyhall has also been gained which will see two 1000 litre calorifiers being replaced in the near future. Predicted savings are estimated at £35K a year on their water bill and an estimated 95% reduction in water consumption.

This is a great achievement for the warehouse and logistics team. Brad Steel, the warehouse and logistics manager, said: “I am delighted with the changes and savings that we have made, and would encourage others across the company to look at their energy and water consumption”.
