Miscellaneous Beta Gamma Waste Store (MBGWS) Safety Record
The excellent safety record at the Miscellaneous Beta Gamma Waste Store (MBGWS) continues with the teams this month reaching 15 years without a lost time accident. This sits alongside an equally impressive record of 3 years since the last minor accident.
MBGWS employs 25 people carrying out daily manual operations and provides safe and secure storage for intermediate level waste generated from various activities across the site.
Paul Dyson, Manufacturing Manager, MBGWS, said "The safety record is one of the results of the fantastic team ethos within MBGWS. Housekeeping standards and 'a family feel' are often commented on by visitors to the plant, and the team are proud of the standards they have set and work hard to maintain them. The culture that has developed over the 20 years since the plant became operational is one of ownership, challenge and pride where people look after each other in an open and honest way".
In keeping safety at the forefront of all they do, the plant personnel have adopted a process of monthly safety walk-downs, themed safety meetings to discuss trends in safety inspections, encouragement of peer to peer observations and regular feedback on safety related issues to all of the teams working in MBGWS.
