Sellafield Ltd celebrates excellence
The Sellafield Ltd Business excellence awards, aimed at celebrating the very best achievements from across the business, have been hailed as a roaring success.
The awards, which were once again hosted at the Energus centre, welcomed teams from various directorates as well as members of the Sellafield Ltd executive team.
The list of winners had been announced in advance of the event with just one big award to be decided on the night. And the Managing Director’s Award for overall winner went to the team from Waste and Effluent Disposition for their rapid improvement event which saved a significant amount of ‘spanner time’.
Guest speaker for the evening was Dr Ian Hudson, Sellafield Programme Director for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Heidi Seeds, from the Talent Management Team, who organised the event, said: “It was a really good night and everybody had a great time. We had a director on most of the tables which gave those who were receiving awards an opportunity to meet and interact with them.
“Dr Hudson spoke very well and I think everyone found it interesting to hear from him.”
Bill Poulson, who attended the event as one of his last official functions as Managing Director before moving on to a new job with URS, said: “One of the things that has impressed me most during my time at Sellafield Ltd has been the skills and abilities of the workforce.
“When our business gets it right we do things excellently, and so these awards are an important way of recognising a job well done. My thanks go to all those involved in making the awards possible, including the team who organised the event but, most of all, those in the business who perform at a world-class level.
“I will be keeping a close eye on Sellafield – next year for the business it is all about people and performance; if we can deliver consistent excellent performances from our people we can deliver the performance as a site that is required of us from our customer.”
