Safety success at Flask Maintenance

Congratulations to teams at the Cuboid Flask Maintenance Facility who have achieved over eight years without a Lost Time Accident (LTA).

Carol Johnson, Director of Infrastructure, praised the teams: “The employees in this area are performing critical work for the nuclear industry in the UK. I am proud of their achievement in integrating safety in everything they do and consistently caring for each others’ wellbeing.”

Over 40 people work in the plant on a seven day, double day shift pattern carrying out work for various internal customers including analytical services, oxide fuel storage group and High Level Waste Plants and external customers from British Energy and Magnox North Ltd.

Frankie McDonald, manufacturing manager, said: "This achievement is a testament to the care and attention to working safely given by all personnel in a largely based heavy engineering environment.”

Echoing this, Firn Ireland, head of manufacturing for Flask Maintenance Transport and Rail added: "The team's achievement is a testament to their positive and proactive attitude towards safety. The facility is a very old building and the work the team carry out is often manual, which makes their achievement more significant."
