Sellafield video podcasts open door to site
Have you ever wondered what happens inside the Sellafield site fence?
A new series of video podcasts launched today will take you into some of the site’s main facilities from the comfort of your own home.
The video podcasts are designed to take visitors on a virtual tour of the Sellafield site’s main facilities with a new podcast added each month.
Chris Philipsborn, Director of Communications, said: “The first video podcast gives an overview of Sellafield Ltd, what we do and where we operate. It will be closely followed by our first plant based podcast which shows and explains what happens inside Thorp.
“The podcasts are only a couple of minutes long and allow visitors to see and hear what our major plants do and how they interact and depend on each other to operate.
“The site-seer buses which used to take people from the Sellafield Visitors Centre onto the site were hugely popular. Current security restrictions make our open-door policy much harder to physically implement. What these podcasts do is let us live up to our open-door policy by providing virtual access to our sites and facilities.
Other video podcasts now available include - Sellafield’s Fuel Handling Plant, Vitrification Plant and Magnox Reprocessing.
