NEBOSH is no bother for Hayley
Congratulations to Hayley Hebson, environmental advisor Sellafield Ltd who has won the Martin Bessant Award for the highest achievement in the NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) specialist diploma in Environmental Management.
Hayley was presented with her award by guest of honour, Professor Dame Carol Black, the Government’s first ever National Director for Health and Work, at the NEBOSH annual graduation ceremony at the University of Warwick on 25 June.
In her job at Sellafield Hayley provides environmental support and advice on a daily basis on issues such as liquid effluent discharges, aerial discharges and solid waste management. She decided to take the diploma to gain more technical knowledge particularly on things such as abatement technologies and environmental management systems.
Speaking about the ceremony, Hayley said: “I was very surprised and pleased to receive this award and had a great time; it was good to chat to other winners and award sponsors, some of whom came from as far afield as Romania, Switzerland and the Caribbean - a possible secondment opportunity ! “
As to what’s next for Hayley. “I’m enjoying a break from studying; it’s nice to have my evenings back but I’m looking into full and chartered membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.”
Her manager, Mark Sarrington, said: “This is a fantastic achievement, it firmly sets the standard to which others can aspire to.”
