Payroll Giving Gold Award 2008

Sellafield Ltd has been awarded The Payroll Giving Gold Award 2008 for fostering a culture of committed giving in the workplace, by making the payroll giving scheme available to employees.
Through the scheme employees can give money to any UK charity directly from their pay, before tax is deducted. This means that it costs the donor less and charities get more.  In 2007 £56548.74 was donated to various charities from 1,065 employees.

The Gold Award is a symbol of excellence and is awarded to employers that have succeeded in generating sustainable income sources for UK charities through Payroll Giving. Pauline Deans, Public Affairs, said: “I am delighted that our employees are receiving recognition for the donations that they make to so many worthy causes. Give As You Earn is a very tax efficient way to donate to charities.”

The Payroll Giving Mark rewards organisations of all sizes for making payroll giving available to their staff. The Quality Mark consists of a certificate and logo, plus three levels of award - bronze, silver and gold.
To get a Quality Mark Award, organisations must show that they are encouraging giving in the workplace by getting employees involved. The Gold Award is awarded to employers that have 10% or more of their
employees participating in Payroll Giving. Employers also need to pay the administration charges, match donations, or have actively promoted payroll giving in the last 12 months.
