2008 North West Newspaper Awards nominees announced
Sellafield Ltd is pleased to announce the nominations for the 2008 North West Newspaper Awards. The event now in its seventeenth year received record entries in all categories
Chris Philipsborn Director of Sellafield Communications said:
“We are delighted to receive so many entries, this represents the amount of talent there is around the North West. The judges had a diffiult task to come up with the shortlist, given that there were some 130 entries to be considered.”
These awards, sponsored by Sellafield Ltd and organised through the North West region of the Society of Editors, recognise achievements in the following categories:
News Reporter of the Year Photographer of the Year
Feature Writer of the Year Young Journalist of the Year
Daily Newspaper of the Year Sports Reporter of the Year
Weekly Newspaper of the Year
Daily Newspaper Website of the Year
Weekly Newspaper Website of the Year
Prizes money is £700 for the winners in each individual category, £150 for each of the runners-up, and trophies for the daily and weekly newspapers and websites of the year.
All the winners of the 2008 Awards will be announced at a special presentation lunch at the Sellafield Centre in Cumbria on Friday 20 June 2008.
The judges in this year’s competition were Roy Wright Editor of the Huddersfield Examiner, John Butterworth Editor of the Shrewsbury Chronicle with Chairperson Richard Catlow from North West Society of Editors.
