TV Presenter Fiona Armstrong to host North West Newspaper Awards
Respected broadcaster Fiona Armstrong has been announced as the host of the North West Newspaper Awards, which are being held at the Sellafield Centre.
Journalists from across the North West still have time to enter this year’s awards and be in with a chance of winning a slice of the £5,000 prize money, as the closing date for entries is not until Monday 19 May 2008.
The awards, sponsored by Sellafield Ltd and organised in association with the North West region of the Society of Editors, are given in recognition of the best journalists and newspapers throughout Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cumbria in the following categories:
News Reporter of the Year
Feature Writer of the Year
Sports Reporter of the Year
Photographer of the Year
Young Journalist of the Year
Daily Newspaper of the Year
Weekly Newspaper of the Year
Daily Newspaper Website of the Year
Weekly Newspaper Website of the Year
Prizes are £700 for the winners in the individual categories and £150 for the runners-up. Trophies will be awarded to the daily and weekly newspapers and websites of the year.
All entries will be judged on Thursday 22 May 2008 and the nominees will be notified shortly afterwards.
Those short listed will be invited to a special presentation lunch at The Sellafield Centre in Cumbria on Friday 20 June 2008.
