Beach monitoring update
As part of Sellafield Ltd’s statutory requirement to monitor local beaches, the Environment Agency has recently increased our programme to include locations further away from the site.
These locations will be beyond St Bees Head in Cumbria and will include the northern shore of the Solway. Monitoring along the northern Solway will begin at Goatwell Bay/Kirkcudbright on 12 December 2007.
All monitoring will be carried out by NUKEM Ltd and any finds that are identified will be removed from the beaches and taken to Sellafield for analysis.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind people that the beaches remain safe to use throughout the monitoring. Click here to view the results.
