Sellafield's supplier forum
OVER 160 suppliers attended the supplier forum held by Management Services Sellafield on 26 April at the Sellafield Training Centre.
Held twice a year, in April and October, the forums are an opportunity for extending dialogue and increasing engagement with the supply chain and to keep suppliers up-to-date with what’s happening at Sellafield and across the nuclear industry. They are also an opportunity for suppliers to develop relationships with other suppliers.
Attendees included contract officers and commercial managers from British Nuclear Group giving suppliers the opportunity to speak directly to those dealing with supply issues on a daily basis.
Two sessions were held in order to accommodate the numbers interested. Following a welcome from Steve Morgan, Commercial and Contract Management Director, Management Services Sellafield (MSS), presentations were given by a range of invited guests including Steve Dixon, region 3 contract manager, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) who spoke on the NDA’s strategy, first year achievements, competition and NDA supply chain. David Till, Business in the Community and Andy Beesforth, Cumbria Community Foundation talked of the importance of working with and supporting the local community.
Highlights from Sellafield’s procurement plan were shared by Peter Caldow, acting head of procurement and David Magrath, commercial manager, talked of the importance of innovation in the supply chain. Grant Gilmour, engineering and technical superintendent, rounded off presentations speaking about Clean- up - the priorities, challenges ahead and working intelligently with the supply chain.
Susan Rousell, Roevin Management Services Limited, said: “I found the forum extremely interesting, as it gave us as a company the chance to find out what was coming up on site and also gave us valuable networking time.”
