Ringing the bell for Cystic Fibrosis

Team members at the cake bake

Sellafield Ltd employees based at Hinton House Risley have been put their cooking skills to good use and raising valuable funds for their chosen charity of the year - Cystic Fibrosis.

Organised by members of the Stakeholder Relations directorate, the team held a cake bake and sold raffle tickets - with the chance of winning a signed Wayne Rooney football shirt.

The team kicked the cake bake off by ringing the infamous ‘tea-time bell’ and two hours later, after trolley dashing around all four floors of Hinton House had managed to raise nearly £500 in cakes sales and sold £400 worth of raffle tickets.

Organiser, Pauline Deans said: "We are really grateful for all the support we got on the day for the cake sale and raffle and would especially like to thank Andy Bennett and Brendan Bolton from the Engineering directorate.

"Although we sold a lot of raffle tickets, I was a bit surprised at how many people wanted to use the Wayne Rooney shirt as a duster if they won it!

"Cystic Fibrosis is a really worthy cause and it has helped to boost our target for this year."

The draw for the signed football shirt will take place on Friday 9 July 2010. Anyone wishing to enter the draw can still do so by contacting Elaine Strong on Risley ext 2758 for tickets.
