Stakeholder engagement

Our stakeholders are very important to us and gaining their respect is vital to our operation. They are intrinsic to our commitment to being economically viable, environmentally responsible and socially beneficial. We are open and transparent in all that we do and we only protect information that is commercial or personally confidential or has implications for safeguarding security. We engage, through a range of processes, with a wide range of stakeholders - including employees, unions, customers, suppliers, local communities, governments, regulators, media, NGO's and the general public

Sellafield

The West Cumbria Sites Stakeholder Group evolved from the already existing 'Sellafield Local Liaison Committee' in 2005. The committee in its various formats has been in operation for well over 40 years and aims to provide a forum through which local stakeholders are able to be updated on the nuclear industry in West Cumbria. Operators from the Sellafield site, as well as regulators and the site owners the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority provide reports and are available to answer questions fielded from the committee members and any members of the community who wish to go along and observe proceedings.

The committee is representative of all four nuclear licensed sites in West Cumbria namely, Sellafield Ltd, The Low Level Waste Repository, Calder Hall and the Windscale site.

Capenhurst

The Local Stakeholder Group is an independent body designed to be the interface between the two site licence holders at Capenhurst and the local community.

The LSG is chaired independently and meets regularly to discuss issues affecting the sites, performance in the fields of the environment and security, and also future plans for the sites.

Keeping the local community informed of our operations is an integral part of the way we work as the managing contractor at Capenhurst’s decommissioning site and it is this system that strengthens our links with those who live closest to the site.

For further information, you can can contact the LSG Secretary, Linda Dougherty on 0151 347 3540.
