I have always had an interest in the nuclear industry and wanted to get some experience in the sector before I graduated, so I chose to apply for a Sellafield Ltd 10 week placement.
I immediately found the work going on at Sellafield to be refreshing, as it is completely new and unknown to me. My main task during my placement was research work into process conditions in a reprocessing plant to aid in process optimisation; this was a major challenge as I needed to know how the plant worked and I quickly got to know a lot of people through my investigations.
While on my placement I was invited back to complete my final year industrial placement here and also have been successful in earning a graduate placement on the Sellafield IChemE accredited graduate scheme.
