Natalie, Apprentice 2009 - 2011
I became an apprentice because I wanted to put what I had learnt at school…
Sellafield Ltd has proudly supported apprenticeship training for over forty years. Apprentices past and present make up a valuable part of our highly skilled nuclear workforce, from those still completing their training though to team leaders and heads of operating units.
I would like to be a qualified electrician and I'm keen to progress to be a team leader or manager and to have the skills that are needed to give me job security in the future.
Daniel Pyne, Class of 2010
I started my apprenticeship straight from school at 16 and can remember getting a good grounding in all aspects of the technologies involved in my chosen trade. I was also given the opportunity to rotate around various departments to get a good understanding of the different activities undertaken on the Sellafield site.
Dave Keenan, Class of 1968
My advice to anyone starting out now would be that you'll get out of your apprenticeship what you put into it, and the demand is huge for skilled workers here at Sellafield and across the country, or even across the world, so take your opportunity and make the best of it.
Gary Fawcett, Class of 1984
The one piece of advice that I would offer people who are considering an apprenticeship is, go for it! It will give you a great start in your career.
Ian Marr , Class of 1972
My apprenticeship helped me to mature and realise what it was like to work within the 'real world'. It has vastly improved my communication skills, time management and general work ethics.
