Having hung around for several hundred years Galileo is in a hurry all of a sudden and rings us twice on our way down to Millom school!
John Heywood and I help him unload the car then help him set up in the school hall. I’m guessing it’s all to do with authenticity but his props could all do with a good boil wash – would be a waste of time doing the Daz doorstep challenge!
We were there quite happily thinking all we had to do was write some notes for FOCUS and take pictures while he did all the hard work when he then told John he had to do the introduction – ha!
120 excited year 7 students all asking did we know various family members who all work on site delayed proceedings a wee bit but eventually the performance began with Galileo bursting through the doors scaring us all half to death but instantly grabbing everyone’s attention.
Throughout his highly entertaining, educational presentation he spoke about Aristotle’s universe, the pendulum, theories of motion, Archimedes etc
Feedback from students and teachers (maths, science and drama) was excellent and the second session delivered to the same number of year 8 students was equally as good, in between sessions he said he was off to dry out – mildly worried about just what was being dried out but thankfully it was just his wig!
